Torture Thursday, Harmony Corruption and The Rise And Fall Of Local Bmx Shops And Riders: A Guide To Have More Fun For The Right Reason$

Just got this bit of bad news for all of the fans of the mighty green here in the states. Massive step back!
I saw Tom Williams post this on Twitter (which you can follow me now if you want).
JUST SMOKE PIFF!

Federal officials are warning California medical marijuana dispensaries they must shut down within 45 days or face criminal prosecution and having their property confiscated.
The state's four U.S. attorneys sent letters Wednesday and Thursday notifying at least 16 pot shops or their landlords that they are violating federal drug laws, even though medical marijuana is legal in California. The attorneys are to announce their coordinated crackdown at a Friday news conference.
The move marks an escalation of the conflict between the government and the medical marijuana industry.

(Al Cisneros is not stoked on this news!)

The Associated Press obtained copies of the letters that a prosecutor sent to 12 of San Diego's dispensaries. They state that federal law "takes precedence over state law and applies regardless of the particular uses for which a dispensary is selling pot.
WOW! Fucking make booze and cigs illegal to why don't you twats!

Surgery was a success! All my teeth are proper at the moment from a wreck I had dating back in 2003.
Random Midwest Toothless Shot 2008

Sorry for how long this post is but Im a wee bit drugged up with a plate of mashed potatoes after getting my last wisdom tooth taken out. Yeah its not major surgery but I hate the word procedure, Im not getting a sex change! Here is one of my favorite heavy duos, "Dark Castle". If your ears are itching for some massive riffs.
(((AWESOME)))
Black Sabbath-Vol.4 is still one of the best records of all time and in my opinion is better than the mighty  "Master Of Reality".

And for good measure for all you smokers of fine herbs.
The O.G Sabbath Version and rare Sleep version of ,"Lord Of This World". Stay lit.

Drop Out Of Life With Bong In Hand Follow The Smoke To The Riff Filled Land

Nor does watching Brian Foster ride trails.
No woods in PA are safe!

Smoke a pipe for me! I can't afford to get ,"dry socket".
I haven't rode a good legit fullpipe since California's Infamous Glory Hole. But here is me walking into the Mt. Baldy Pipeline getting ready to get my carve on!
Prospect Park here in Delco used to have a wee full pipe right off of 420 in a junkyard by a swim club. R.I.P
Video Grab Filmed By Kevin Dunn

That thing was super tight and hard to ride, carving this high was no easy task at all. Yes kids there is more to BMX than tailwhips, and barspins!

I maybe releasing some old/new Delco Brand Clothing in very limited D.I.Y style to help me get to Austin sooner, hopefully in time for the Empire Bmx Dave Parrick Film, "Bad Idea". I should buy my plane ticket next paycheck, and then have my BSD WZA frame paid off after that. So the more money I can get, and the more I get you kids stoked on Delco Brand and The Mont the better it is for everyone.

We are a BMX/Music Community regardless on what shop you support. For myself I stick by my guns and chose my good friend Van Homan across the Deleware River in Pennsville New Jersey at Two By Four Store, and Thomas and Tina Williams over in my soon to be home of Austin Texas who I have been a very loyal customer of since Empire didn't exist and a shop called Trend Bmx was the hub of the Austin Bmx scene and made a great Stew Johnson produced video back in 1999 which oddly had the first Anthem II trailer in it.

(For fuck sake I have an Empire Bmx Tattoo thats how strong I stand behind Tom and Tina)
Im not saying that these are the only two Bmx shops that you should shop at. But how can you support a local store when you read the drama induced post of one of the main workers especially in the bicycle section of a local shop in Delco rants on the internet about how childish Bmx is and how its corny. Ok people get burned out, but if your wondering what the fuck happened with your Bmx sales its a wee thing called Social Networking. Things started out amazing for this shop as they held jams, and stuff to help out the growing scene like this bunnyhop contest that I placed 3rd in with a bum wrist and some lungs full of green.
If you wanted to quit, then just walk away. There was no need to say the things that were spoken about Bmx especially the vast number of who don't do this for coverage or anything aside from how happy being behind those handlebars makes you feel. Even this simple downstair feeble grind back in 2007 still gets me stoked looking at it and even riding this school even though not in the nicest part of town. Since 2007 my progression has shown with numerous moves on the same ledge including a double tire ride that Im pretty proud of. But here is just a simple feeble grind with all the tell tale signs of fun showing!

Bmx is the best addiction in the world, if you don't like it fine. But now you have the whole Bmx community mocking you worse than before since you are now selling "high grade" freestyle scooters because you can't seem to grasp where your Bmx customers went to? Hmmmm, next time don't rip apart the Bmx scene just because you want to quit. The proof is in the pudding. What started out to me as a great thing for the local Bmx scene has crashed and burned. I wish all the employees the best, support who you want. But I stick to my guns and Mr. Homan a close friend of almost fifteen years now, and Mr. and Mrs. Williams who I've been giving my money to since 1998. Integrity means alot to me believe it or not. Bmx is my life and these people have been with me every step of the way of this amazing journey which many of you fail to see even though its right in your eyes.
Bump gap to wall on MacDade Blvd.

Go out there, cruise around, blow off the normal spots, take the long way home, look for homes for sale with big fences in the yard hell you may luck out and find a nice right handed Blue Haven Kidney Pool waiting for you already drained just screaming to roast! Bmx maybe about having fun, but sometimes the adventure and the hunt adds more to the fun in bicycle motorcross about 999.999 percent of the time. The world is your playground when you step onto your bike so take full advantage and remember, spots come and go.

Life is a scary place and to some being in control of some form of your life can keep your head up and have you be in charge of something 100% in your life. It doesn't matter what kind of two wheeled machine you decide to pedal around on. Bike riding is bike riding, but putting pegs on a fixed gear just makes you look like the closest thing to wearing rollerblades or better yet...a professional level scooter. To each his or her own though. Fun and Failure start with the same first letter.

So pick up your Bmx, your beach cruiser, hell even your Downhill MTN Bike and get rad! To quote a personal favorite line from the film, "Gummo" Solomon:Life is beautiful. Really, it is. Full of beauty and illusions. Life is great. Without it, you'd be dead.
Words to live by ladies and gentlemen. Now get off your computer and have some fun.

I found this old photo that Vince D. took of me doing this smith grind in South Philly. I dunno why I look fat in this haha.
And I look my normal weight in this one blowing some shit up.
Weird daze!

With Ben Lewis just being a fucking machine. Nuff said! Just wait for footage. Hell he even catches fish with his bare hands the kid is that talented. (I may've made that up)

Shawn Mcintosh accidently bought some booze free alcohol. But I take it he found some real booze!

Today ruled. Stoked on everyone and talking The Big Lebowski up with Stewart Johnson.

Deeceman!

And I always liked this picture based on how lazy this tabletop is and how wet the bank is. Thank you to Derek Girard for the inspiration on keeping it chill!

Fun set up, massive hop. Stoked on this photo, shot around two years ago?
Why do you come here ?
And why do you hang around ?
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me ?
When you know, oh
Why do you come ?
Why do you telephone ? (Hmm...)
And why send me silly notes ?
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me ?
When you know, oh
Why do you come ?
You had to sneak into my room
'just' to read my diary
"It was just to see, just to see"
(All the things you knew I'd written about you...)
Oh, so many illustrations
Oh, but
I'm so very sickened
Oh, I am so sickened now

Oh, it was too late, too late
It was too late, too late
It was too late, too late
Oh
It was too late, too late
It was too late, too late
Oh, it was too late, too late
Oh
Oh, it was too late
It was too late
Oh, too late
Oh, it was too late
Too late, too late
Oh
It was too late.

Maybe the Internet isn't all bad... BMX BONDS... And...Sometimes wearable death isn't 100% murder?

I seriously laughed for twenty minutes, and got mad stoked on this footage of Edwin. Spotted on SKVR.
Tubular Tuesday Tunes tonight go to, "Q Lazzarus- Goodbye Horses".
And to Marc Johnson for killing it always on a skateboard using this risky but amazing song choice and being my favorite shredder on four wheels. I bombed some hills today on my friends board. Sick times! Shred the gnar!
Stay heavy kids. Open your ears!
Plus you don't have to search the New Jersey Boardwalk for bootleg VHS tapes of bands you like performing live for $35.00 man, you kids don't understand how lucky you are. I once at the ECW Arena purchased a FMW Japanese Death Match VHS Bootleg with Onita vs Mr.Pogo which was totally worth the $30.00 charge and the bragging rights to my friends of this new form of ultra violent wrestling which made dudes like The Rock just look like chodes. This is also before ICP ruined wrestling.
So enjoy this live Sigur Rós performance without running to Tunes On The Dunes.
Pure beauty in auditory form.
Earlier today I injured my arm trying this bump jump gap to wallride and didn't get on correctly and just slammed my shoulder and already injured knee. Its not Gary Ginch gnarly talking wound deep, but its in a terrible place and will be a bitch to heal correctly. So I get the boot after accidently letting out a Sean Burns type of yell from my jurassic blood and of course John Doe property owner comes out and threatens to beat my ass before calling the Police. Sick idea bro! Go to jail for assault.
This post has nothing to do with Garret Byrnes but I love the guy!

But back on to the Leather Jacket story, around 2004 I had my first real girlfriend at nineteen. Yeah Im pathetic I know. All life to me when I was in high school was being Straight Edge, going to HxC shows with Navaz and Lou, Bike Night at the Skatepark, and being lucky enough to witness some of Van Homan's Little Devil Criminal Mischief bangers be performed in real life. It was an amazing time to be a teenage and into the BMX and Hardcore scenes. But people grow out of music and even bicycles which is a part of life I never quite could grasp. Carving over a pool light, or roasting a hip will never get old to me. Those of you who think BMX is just some little kid phase and maybe they should done a pair of football pads really should let their children rough themselves up as their own coach, and their friends their team mates behind the handlebars. BMX made me a strong human being up until I was midway to being 19 and decided to have a wild accident drunk session playing Tony Hawk 3 in West Philly with Ghetto Steve, Paul Horan, and this kid named Poopsex a.k.a Roberto Donato a.k.a Speedwolf.
Believe me Im pissed, 18 years of being a miserable sober determined prick behind a bicycle and most importantly my parents trust to go on sick cross country trips with my best friends. (No homo me and Tom White developed a big brother, little brother relationship on our 42 day cross country pool, and fullpipe roadtrip two weeks out of 11th grade. He took care of me when I felt homesick, when I was hurt, or just frustrated with not having any A/C in Arizona around July 5th, 2002.) I never told Tom that, but that bond between friends who have been locked up together on a failed pool mission, rode some of the best spots in the world, have been friends since the seventh grade and shared an English class together in Senior Year makes for a good friendship. Even though calling Mr. and Mrs. White to come and pick their knocked out son up from some rail spot in Chester (the hood) or that he needs yet another pair of stitches because of his Odyssey Shark Bite Caged pedals. You get a bond and you keep that bond. No Homo alright, since BMX is so in my opinion racist and close minded anymore Im sure that some of you are probably like, "Yo I heard on The Come Up that this Adam Schnellenbach dude has like a man crush on his friend!" Nah just a close bond all because of BMX.
Fuck me though back to the Leather Jacket story. I got it from my ex-girlfriend Angela who was an amazing women by the way if she ever reads this and I wish her the best in her new life. Cheers Ang! But I had been complaining for months that I couldn't find a leather jacket that wasn't corny. I had been listening to a ton of Darkthrone, Mercyful Fate, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Incantation, and Napalm Death all the early Earache Records shit was like a gift from the underworld for my ears, and I needed the Jacket! I reckon that $300 and an imaginary spending Holiday named Christmas which celebrates this supposed birth of this fake lord Jesus Christ, I got the jacket! And she got A Broken Social Scene Record, Desparecidos, and a T-Rex DVD if my memory stands correct.

And a live version eh?
I made up for it a month before when the dudes in Mastodon gave me a broken pair of cymbols that were broken during their set, and without me asking or being twenty one, a few Buds go down my throat cold as Nordic hell itself but with that loving flavor that only a Budweiser can accomplish.

Each member of Mastodon signs the cymbols with her name wishing her a happy birthday. Needless to say she was a happy girl.

But I loved that leather jacket, it meant more to me than my feelings toward her that I couldn't express because I well never had a real girl who wasn't using me in my life before. Blowing this like Jon Lovit's blows yayo was not an option.
 "Who got that yack yo?"
"Its up my nose homeboy, my bad."

So I rode my BMX in it and seriously thousands of crashes over these years of fall and winter time shredding in this jacket the wrecks have saved my skin. Im grateful for the gift, for metal, and Im sorry for the Animal who was butchered so that I could look rad, and avoid brush burns. Including one bombing a hill on my friends skateboard today after surfing The Berrics Website for about an hour and being too hurt and sore to ride 100%.

Paul Rode's socks were gnarly and borrowed off myself. Someone hook this kid up! Paul is too good.
Ps. I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH EDITING THIS BUT PAUL IS CURRENTLY IN MY OPINION THE NEXT BIG THING WHEN IT COMES TO BALLS OUT FUCK IT STREET RIDING.

Punday Sunday A.K.A: A Writer and Photographers Ultimate D.I.Y Trip Back To Times When Twitter Was Just A Word For Late Night Beaver Down At The River. And My Favorite Ghostbusters Clip!

Drink And Rest In Peace Charles. <3 Sick Guy Right There!
“There are worse things than being alone,”
Here is an open for all of you freelance writers and photographers to get some words or photographs out there. Im working for an article that hopefully is worthy for a write up in Dig and helping get the underground noticed a tad more in a D.I.Y Fuck Off kind of way. Imagine BMX PLUS! But in vein of Club Magazine with Hustler undertones. Keep it raw, keep it gritty. Email me some write ups of your own, photos, show reviews, anything sick and worth looking or reading would be a prime choice. I'll post a top ten D.I.Y I Wish This Was A Zine, Or Maybe I Should Order A Physical Copy Top Ten Of The Month.

Here is the intro to the first issue I will ask questions of, "Yeah Zine". Also one of the D.I.Y Blogs of the month, I emailed Nina earlier with this intro. Enjoy.
Here is the intro:
In this current age of must know technology, instagrams, twitter, ect. It seems as if a small margin of information has slipped thru the cracks in the form of both BMX, and music zines. Few still hit up their local kinko's and fire out a few hundred hand numbered D.I.Y as fuck copies for their close friends. Some people wonder why I guess, chances are they grew up when you had to wait for a new issue of Props to see a new move or line that Ruben fired out at a random Backyard Jam. But few pushed on, and pushed the art of printed word. If your not happy about what your sport or your favorite musical magazine is printing and seems to cater more to a flavor of the month than of actual good and interesting content then a handful of heads still believe in the art of D.I.Y Printing and getting their ideas on paper as opposed to a computer screen. Angie Marino and Nina Buitrago are two of these individuals who still bang out copies of their female BMX magazine, "Yeah Zine." I used to have a copy of Bob Scerbo's zine, "Scrappin". And I was hooked, with the end of Holeshot zine in the near future Yeah Zine is standing strong with a different demographic in mind. Showing the male BMX community that yes Women shred harder than you kids sitting on the deck of a ramp running your mouth about Chase DeHart's tattoo than the riding at hand. So I shot Nina a few questions and lets see what the first female BMX'er with a signature pair of handlebars has to say about Yeah Zine.
Here are some tunes to help you with the motivation. Or to turn on and tune out. Either way enjoy. Somas make you feel weird.
Chris Cole is a sick guy, and everyone should peep The Berics daily to see why you should probably be outside on a bicycle or skateboard. Sure watching other people kill it is fun, but go kill it yourself!

East Coast Life... For The Time Being

FBM  = PIZZA BEER AND FUN ALONG WITH SOME FAT BALD MEN

Sick Guy!
My long time buddy Joe Notte doing this massive gap, called the "OZZY GAP". What a beast!
Saturday tunes!
oday was amazing, riding spine ramps all day with the Ginch Bros. brought an end to the Bummer Summer. Two of my favorite dudes ever. Ben Lewis is a sick guy. Ty Morrow is a beast, and Trey Jones did the third craziest roof gap I've ever seen in real life. Great to see all my Austin homies on the East Coast and a huge thanks to Van Homan and 2x4 for putting on a sick event. I love you Steven Crandall!
Best dudes here: Have more fun, eat more pizza! (sadly Tom Blyth was not at the jam today)
Peep some old Benny L. footage and get pumped on BMX! The UK scene is unreal! Stay zooted America!
