Frightmare Top Eleven Friday Pizza Pieday With Discordance Axis

The Pizza of the day goes to: Carmen's Original Pizza here in Ridley, Pennsylvania. Im sure Navazio, and Stew Johnson agree. Try their Vegan Stromboli and get stoked! Also best Garlic Bread ever, like EVER!

A Note to Vegans
Over the course of many years, we have modified recipes and added new menu items to satisfy the Vegan choice.  While we are not primarily a Vegan or even vegetarian restaurant, we do offer many items to satisfy a broad range of tastes and dietary restrictions.  There is no reason why families of different views can’t eat at the same restaurant and enjoy the same quality and taste despite their different views or dietary choices.
It must be noted however, that our primary goals are the flavor and integrity of the products we sell.  That’s why we still make our own meatballs and all of our own sauces and dough.  We even cook our mushrooms fresh rather than use canned.  Our salads come from fresh vegetables that we meticulously wash before use.  We never use pre made salads from nitrogen packed plastic bags.
All of our red sauces, whether for pizzas or pastas are Vegan.  I grew up in a home where the red gravy for pasta cooked all day, with meatballs and pork simmering in the pot for a rich and robust flavor.  It took me a year of trial and error before I finally replicated the taste and texture of that red gravy without using any animal products.  Even my relatives can’t tell the difference. And I did this with no artificial ingredients or chemicals of any kind.
Why?  I believe that families should be able to break bread together at the same table and share a meal that is as satisfying to the Vegan as the vegetarian or omnivore.  That’s why we try to offer choices that mirror the flavor of my family’s meals regardless of dietary choices.

Even though our red sauces are Vegan, not all of our pastas are.  The fresh pasta is not Vegan, so when ordering, specify the imported rigatoni or imported whole wheat spaghetti.   We will gladly make a vegetable medley over either of those pastas instead of fettuccini, and we don’t charge a surcharge.

All of our dough (except for fresh pasta) is Vegan, whether for pizza, Stromboli, or garlic loaf.  We use no dairy or honey or animal product of any kind.  We use no dough conditioners which often contain chemicals derived from dairy products.
Gluten Free pizza is not vegan.  We purchase this dough from a distributor, and it contains both dairy and egg.

Daiya is here
After more than twenty years of offering soy cheese pizzas and Stromboli, we have switched to a completely vegan alternative that meets our stringent standards of texture, taste and melt characteristics.  Daiya cheese is soy and casein free and lower in fat than the soy cheese it replaces.  The taste and texture are simply amazing.

It may not have the same selection as Blackbird Pizza in Philly (AMAZING), but this is some pizza not to be fucked with if you know what to order!

When I was in seventh grade a car drove thru the front of Carmen's as I was waiting for my pizza and garlic bread. Scary stuff, no major injures but I was scared to eat there for a year. The cops told me later on that a half inch of steel saved my life.

October 7, 2011 Daily Top Ten Plus One Playlist:

"Iron Lung", proves to be still one of the best acts of their genre. Straight up vicious both on record and in a live setting. I didn't think that this much auditory hatred was possible thru two men, but after seeing them play at Dudefest 2009 I was a believer. One of the best bands I have ever seen live.

Howl is a super fun band to listen to, awesome riffs, cool lyrics, great vocals. Just a good listen if your driving to work, hitting up a new line down the trails, or just feel like headbanging.

Relapse Records has been releasing some hammers lately! Especially the new, "Rwake-Rest". Wow! Album of the year material right here, "Rwake-Rest" picks up where "Voices Of Omens" left off and just destroys the senses and puts both the brilliance of Rwake's own style of Southern Fried Sludge from the darkest swamp there could possibly be below the Mason Dixon line, leaving you to suffocate in your own sorrow. "The trees are energy!" You need this record if you like metal or good music at all!

Amazing artwork on this Black Tusk recording by John Dyer Baizley (Baroness) The new Black Tusk record, "Set The Dial" should be out soon as well. Get into it!

I remember my old band played a show in one of the worst neighborhoods in Philadelphia with Canada's  "Fuck The Facts", Mel is one of my favorite female vocalists ever and their new material is a testament to that. Fucking vicious and pissed as ever!

Does it get anymore awesome than Trap Them? Thats all I can really say, amazing riffs, lyrics, Trap Them is the whole fucking package when it comes to bands you wish your band sounded like!
Entombed fans will eat this up as well.

Rosetta, what an amazing band. Sure they may do the whole "NeurISIS" thing but they go above and beyond the call of duty. Being a local band in the Philadelphia area and never getting the proper credit they deserve always used to grind my gears but seeing them mature into the force of beauty and heaviness that they are today brings a smile to my face. Enjoy!

Mordbrand, fuck yes! This song is off of their new six song EP and if your a fan of Death Metal that sounds fresh, then get this fucker! Super heavy, confident and brutal.

"Moab", riff-o-rama here totally smokeable tunes. So roll that shit, light that shit, and blast off! Super cool stuff that I hadn't heard until reading the new issue of Decibel Magazine. I was once an intern there, sweet place of business. I was bummed when I lost that one to some chick who liked Behemoth way too much. Oh well now I have a chance to write with the magazine that well made me want to write in a magazine to begin with, Dig Bmx Magazine. But I still enjoy Decibel and love their publication.

"OM", well by now you know the story and probably how good that their "Conference Of The Birds" record is already. With Al and Chris from the mighty Sleep crashing back down to Earth like a Green Amp from space.

Simply amazing music to relax your mind to.

"Interpol", fuck off if you hate this shit. It sounds like Joy Division and is awesome. Nuff said! Great fucking record, your other ones though are alright but as cliche as it is to say never up to par with ,
 "Turn On The Bright Lights."

Almost all of these bands records are available at Relapse Records or any finer record stores or online shops near your home. God I hate myself for saying that shopping online is more simple than driving ALL THE WAY down to the mall past the Juggalo's and teen moms. I understand, truly I do.
Burt Reynolds says to smoke coke and listen to Discordance Axis.
Grind Your Mind!
Jon Chang is one of the best vocalists in the game. Discordance Axis is seriously one unreal band.
Much respect. Drain it. Shred it. Keep it like...Secret.
I miss riding a new pool every week pretty much, skaters are far from lazy, but nor are trail riders, and some of us who still enjoy an afternoon and an empty concrete monolith that isn't a real skatepark but is probably a million times better fun than some pre-fab bullshit across town.
REST IN PEACE ASBURY PARK POOL THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE AMAZING SESSIONS AND FOR MAKING NEW JERSEY INTERESTING. BEST POOL EVER.
"She was almost too perfect to be called a pool."
